Oral Care

Transforming Oxygen into Care

Ardox-X® is a stabilized active oxygen donating complex that provides a controlled release of non-radical, anionic oxygen species to treat oral infections and other oral issues. Unlike traditional oxygen donors like hydrogen peroxide, it releases active oxygen without creating damaging free radicals, making it safe for long-term use without harming DNA or mucosal cells. The mechanism of active oxygen involves several stages of interaction with the oral environment and pathogenic bacteria:

Controlled Activation and Release

Our Ardox-X® complex is disrupted upon contact with the mucosa, saliva, or specific enzymes, triggering a gradual release of active oxygen.

Safety Profile

Because it does not generate free radicals, it is not cytotoxic and does not cause cell death in mucosal cells, osteoblasts (bone-building cells), or blood cells.

Biofilm Penetration

Ardox-X® works by oxidizing proteins within the dental biofilm, which increases the penetrability of the biofilm. This allows the oxygen to reach bacteria deep within gingival pockets that large molecules (like antibiotics or chlorhexidine) often cannot reach.

Realized Products

  • Cosmetic products: mouthwash, anti-halitosis mouthwash, toothpaste,  implant toothpaste.
  • Medical Devices class IIa: Active Oxygen Liquid and Active Oxygen Gel for treatment of gingivitis, periodontitis and peri-implantitis.

Toothpaste

Toothpaste

Ardoz develops and produces toothpaste for day-to-day oral care based on our active oxygen complex. It contains fluoride and is also pH neutral. Our R&D department can develop different formulas for different applications.

Mouth rinse

Mouth rinse

We develop and produce several mouth rinses with standard and higher level of active oxygen. These rinses do not contain alcohol, are pH neutral and contain fluoride. The higher level of active oxygen rinses are medical devices (class IIa).

Whitening pen

Whitening pen

As active oxygen also has a whitening effect, Ardoz has developed a whitening pen that contains active oxygen that whitens the teeth up to 5 shades. This pen does not contain harmful peroxide and is gentle on the gums and enamel.

Toothpaste for dental implants

Toothpaste for dental implants

Ardoz has developed and produces a special toothpaste for the aftercare of dental implants. This toothpaste has been specially developed for everyone with dental implants and is essential for maintaining proper hygiene. It contains Ardox-X, lactoferrin, a low level of fluoride and is very low abrasive.

Syringe gel for the dental professional

More info

Syringe gel for the dental professional

For dental professionals, we develop and produce a special high concentration gel that can be applied during the placement of dental implants. The gel does not contain chlorhexidine or antibiotics. The gel is applied through a 1 ml syringe and it helps the treatment in reducing pocket depth, inhibits the growth of anaerobic bacteria and accelerates wound healing. After the surgery, the patient can use the active oxygen mouth rinse at home to support their treatment.

Applications in oral care

Ardox-X® is used as an adjunctive treatment. The oxygen-enriched microenvironment has a proven positive effect on the infected gingival pockets. Studies showed an average of 56% reduction in pocket depth after three months of treatment.

This is an inflammatory condition around dental implants. Ardox-X® is used as an adjunctive treatment as the active oxygen helps reduce biofilm formation on implant surfaces without damaging the tissues.

Our technology is used in toothpastes and mouthwashes for daily oral care to prevent and treat gum inflammation.

Oral Malodour: Active oxygen is highly effective at neutralizing volatile sulfur compounds (VSCs) in the oral cavity for up to six hours, outperforming some standard chlorhexidine rinses.

It effectively bleaches tooth discolorations through oxidative transformation without the sensitivity or DNA damage associated with high-concentration peroxide treatments.

It can be used to inhibit Mutans streptococci, which are responsible for initial caries or “white spots” often seen during orthodontic treatment.
